In more light-hearted news, allegations arose recently - and were quickly batted down - of Russian President Vladimir Putin enjoying an affair with Olympic gymnast-turned-Kremlin newbie Alina Kabaeva, The Times (UK) reports today. Putin, who instantly dismissed the allegations brought up by a Russian journalist during his visit with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi in Sardinia yesterday, was alleged to have divorced his wife, and intiated the affair with the 24-year-old gymanst over half his age. Kabaeva won a gold medal in the 2004 Athens summer games, has reccently entered the Duma. Personally, my favorite part is when Putin dismissed the comment, but then offered shortly there after that Russia contains the world’s most beautiful women. What a lady-killer (no pun intended).
